Project: Global Tax Compliance Programme

Description:
 

The Global tax compliance program implements the OECD Common Reporting Standard and is a significant step in government's efforts to improve cross border tax compliance. CRS is modelled on FATCA (Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act), however the data required is different and the volume of reporting required is significantly higher as it will with financial transactions from 47 participating countries. This new standard on automatic exchange of information is a game changer and will ramp up international tax co-operation, putting governments back on a more even footing as they seek to protect the integrity of their tax systems and fight tax evasion.

 

Responsibilities:  

 

·   Engage in business and non-functional workshops and liaison with stakeholders to model the "as is" and "to be" models, requirements and architecture.

·   Provide technical leadership to a build team of ~25 and design team of ~10 people, including both internal and vendor resources, distributed across geographies.

The Account Opening Improvement Programme (AOIP) aims to deliver an end to end automated account opening solution for Corporate banking clients, including Data Capture, electronic AML checks, Customer Identifiers, Credit Decisioning and Account Fulfillment. The platform provides a common channel for all corporate banking products like MTAs, Loans, Savings and Cards. It is a green field and one of the key transformation projects for RBS Group and I have been involved in it since inception.

The Electronic Customer Review Programme (ECR a.k.a Money Manager) aims to deliver an Intranet based application which seeks to optimize the advisor and customer engagement by focusing on the conversation rather than a process. It’s a pre-sales engine which will allow the customer to keep a track of most of their spending from various sources like credit cards, mortgages, saving accounts, overdrafts, loans, insurance, needs & goals, commitments etc. wherein most of the details are already pre-populated. The application leverages the captured data to offer online accounts to customers based on their goals and situation, also the data is fed to backend MI and marketing systems.

 

Responsibilities:  

 

·   ECR is an Agile project and I as a Scrum lead was responsible for all the tracks of the project.

·   Provide technical leadership to a build team of ~20 people, including both internal and vendor resources.

The Multi Channel sale (MCS) is an account opening platform for retail customers. MCS enables the customer to complete the account opening process and make it operational in 5 minutes; this facility is available through multiple channels (Web, Mobile, branch etc). MCS is a resilient channel and allows any product to be offered within minimal time; currently it serves products like MTA, Current account, saving account, ISA, Loan accounts etc.It is a green field and one of the most important project for RBS Group and I have been involved in it since inception.

 

Responsibilities:  

 

·   Engage in business and non-functional workshops and liaison with all stakeholders.

·   Provide technical leadership to a build team of ~100 and design team of ~25 people.

·   Liaison with business team and help them define and document HLR and LLR.

·   Own the reference architecture, portal, content management and security design.

·   Carry out Proof of Concepts (Process configurability, Multivariate testing, BPMv7.5, Mobile portal accelerator etc.) for trivial problems and incorporate the lessons in solution design.

·   Provide technical leadership to team on all the issues.

·   Deliver and build the end-to-end security model which spans across multiple layers and systems both internal & external to the bank.

·   Design and build both short and long running processes, mediations which integrate with CICS, MQ, WESB and other legacy systems over different bindings.

·   Developed the IDV (log-in and log-out components) JSF portlets, security components like VMM, CURI, and TAI etc. for the project, these pages use customer’s online banking, debit card, telephony credentials to authenticate him and later on cleared penetration testing with 1 security rating.

·   Designed and developed the WebServices MLS and TLS security with client authentication, which secure the various layers.

·   Developed the branch locater and fund transfer services using datapower (XS40 and XI50), these services interact with external service providers outside the bank.

·   Drove the Non-functional/performance testing of project running system analysis (crashes, slow responses, heap dumps, thread dumps, core dumps, ffdc, nmon etc.) and tuning the same for best results.

·   Developed the build and deploy scripts for the project and assisted Infra and operation team on environment readiness.

The eChannels - UK and RoI Portal project aims to consolidate of RBSs various services under a unified delivery mechanism. The solution intends to create a SOA like ecosystem which clients can using a JSR286 Portals based UI. It is a green field project and I have been involved in it since inception.

 

Responsibilities:  

 

·   Engage business analysts and review business cases and provide high level effort and risk estimates.

·   Participate in design of system architecture.

·   Design and building components for supporting the existing and new portal services.

·   Produce Solution designs from business use cases.

·   Liaison with business team and help them define and document HLR and LLR.

·   Carry out Proof of Concepts for Lotus Web Content Management and run demo with business sponsors and analysts these included the WCM operating model, personalization rules, web-analytics and recommendation engine etc.

·   Participate in setting up of design and development best practices for Portal and WCM operating model as a part of adoption exercise in RBSG (WebSphere portal was used for the first time).

Description IBM WebSphere Process Server (WPS) is a service-oriented architecture (SOA) integration platform built on a uniform invocation programming model and a uniform data representation model. WPS is the ideal platform for business applications that require business integration using different technologies.

 

Responsibilities:  

 

·   Documenting design decisions for enhancement and new requirements and system impact.

·   High Level Design, Process Flow Diagrams/Message Maps and business use cases and business use cases.

·   Development of Business Processes, SCA modules, Mediation flows, Maintenance of Various flows.

·   Involved in Architectural design discussions for IVRDB project which will expose Apertio NDS data as webservice to Nortel IVR thus identifying a customer calling Airtel IVR @ 121 from any where in the country.

·   Developed IN-Pacs flow which will update data in NDS and CMS from legacy systems like IN and Pacs.

·   Solutioning and development of NDS-MCheck application integration which interacts with ADC update the data in CMS and provides device model, APN, circle, Mode of payment, IMSI, and IMEI to the content providers.

WebSphere Portal Module lead     Dec’07- Jan’09

Description:

 

The implementation of SDP will enable Bharti Airtel to have an integrated environment that will incorporate all of Airtel’s content and applications services under one platform. Post implementation of the Service Delivery Platform Bharti Airtel will become the first service provider in India to have a comprehensive service delivery platform.  The SDP is a recognized market leading global telecom framework, which is based on open standards and with proven implementations at telecom companies around the world. The SDP shall enhance the spectrum of content, application and services and integrate them across all of Bharti’s service lines and present a consistent presentation of services to the customers, who then shall be able to access through multiple channels viz. SMS, MMS, WAP, Web, broad band. The customers shall also be able to personalize this catalogue.  The content delivered to the customers shall also be more friendly and customized as per the capability of their devices. The SDP is a comprehensive solution that integrates several ISV packages through IBM’s middleware framework running over several hardware server and storage platforms.

 

Portal is the UI / front end for the Bharti Service Delivery Platform. We implemented portal solution using IBM Websphere Everyplace Mobile Portal 5.0.1 for both wireless and wired portal.

 

Responsibilities:  

 

·   Managing Document stack - High Level Design, Process Flow Diagrams/Message Maps and business use cases.

·   Quality Process/Reviews of artifacts (use cases, design document) created by other team members.

·   Design decisions, SDP wide System Analysis, effort estimation and resourcing.

·   Enhanced system TPS by implementing cache solutions. The solution works at servlet filter and at transfer object assembler that reduced unnecessary backend requests.

·   Improved portal render process by implementing Asynchronous Beans for managing long-running back-end calls in external Advertisements.

CMS module is the core of Bharti Service Delivery Platform. It integrates with all components of SDP (Message Broker, NDS, WPS, CRM, Billing, Portal etc). Further, CMS consists of three products mPower for Content Management, CoreMedia for DRM and Adamind for transcoding of contents.

 

Responsibilities

 

·   Co-ordination with ISV on Bug and technical issues

·   Product Presentations to Bharti Customers for system features and usability

·   Resolving integration and deployment issues with module teams and ISVs

·   Post Integration of services getting the System Integration Testing done by guiding the team through Business and Call flows.
